About the Midland Heritage Committee
The Midland Heritage Committee was established by Council in 1989 to promote the Municipality's mandate of heritage preservation, under authority of the
Ontario Heritage Act. The Committee focuses on the identification and preservation of heritage resources, including historical and architectural buildings, and cultural and natural features within our Municipality. The Committee promotes public awareness of heritage resources through organizing and participating in local heritage events, publications of books and brochures and annual Heritage Merit Award presentations of Midland Heritage Plaques on buildings having architectural and/or historical significance. In 2009, The Committee also established the Heritage Appreciation Award to recognize individuals or groups who have made a significant contribution to the promotion or support of local heritage. The Committee meets regularly once per month on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm in the Town of Midland Council Chambers.
