The Town of Midland is part of the Simcoe County Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee.  The Committee is comprised of the following municipalities: Township of Springwater, the Township of Tay, the Township of Oro-Medonte and the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio, in accordance with Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2001, and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (“Acts”), and shall act as an advisory body in accordance with both Acts and all related standards. All meetings are held in person only at the Administration Building in Midhurst (1110 Highway 26)

The Committee’s responsibilities include:

  • Providing input on multi-year accessibility plans for municipal councils, focusing on identifying, removing, and preventing barriers for persons with disabilities.

  • Advising on major accessibility issues related to municipal buildings, including renovations, operations, purchases, or leases, with attention to public-use areas and site plan reviews.

  • Offering guidance on identifying and removing barriers to persons with disabilities at facilities owned or operated by the municipalities.

  • Advising on improvements to programs and services to enhance accessibility for persons with disabilities.

  • Performing other duties as outlined by the regulations under the Acts.
