The Audit Committee is responsible for overseeing all material aspects of the corporation’s financial reporting, control and audit functions. The role includes a particular focus on the qualitative aspects of financial reporting and on the organization’s processes for the management of business/financial risk and for compliance with significant applicable legal, ethical and regulatory requirements.

The role also includes maintenance of strong, positive working relationships with management, external auditors and other advisors. The Audit Committee provides a focal point for communication between Council, the external auditor and management and facilitates an impartial, objective and independent review of management practices.
