As per the Business Licensing By-law, to operate a farmers' market in Midland you require a Farmers' Market Licence. The by-law defines a farmers' market as a seasonal, multi-vendor, community-driven (not private) organization selling agricultural, food, art and craft products including homegrown produce, home-made crafts and value-added products where the majority of vendors are primary producers (including preserves, baked goods, meat, dairy products etc.).
