The Flags and Proclamations Policy establishes administrative guidelines for mayoral proclamations and community flag raisings on Town Hall's Ceremonial Flagpole.

How to Submit a Request

An individual or group requesting a flag ceremony or proclamation shall complete and submit a request at least 30 days prior to the date of the requested event. The Clerk will review the application to confirm approval of the request based on the Town's Flags & Proclamations Policy. The Clerk's office will contact the applicant to confirm if the request has been approved.

Please note:

Approvals and use of the flagpole is based on criteria in the Flags & Proclamations Policy and will be granted on a first-come first-served basis.
If more than one applicant has requested the same date or topic, the dates shall be assigned to the applicant that first requested the date.
Organizations do not have exclusive rights to the day, week or month being recognized.
Organizations may request one recognition event per year.
Requests will not be accepted by third-parties on behalf of organizations or individuals.
Organizations are responsible for notifying the media or advertising about or after their event.
Organizations can submit a request to add their event to the Town's Community Calendar.
Flag ceremonies must be performed during regular business hours and as Town schedules permit.
The Town does not provide ceremonies for lighting requests. Requestors may attend the Town Hall to take photos of outdoor lighting.
A flag shall be supplied to the Clerk's Department at least three business days prior to the flag ceremony. The Town is not responsible for holding community flags after events or any damage to flags during the raising period.
