Recreational backyard fires are allowed in Midland provided the resident first purchases an Open-Air Burning Permit and follows the Open-Air Burning By-law. Permits are valid from the date of purchase until December 31 of that given year. Permits must be visible from the road when you have a backyard fire.

Only the property owner or agent shall apply for a burning permit. Open Air Burning Permits will only be issued to property owners. If the resident is not the property owner, a written authorization from the property owner is required.
