As per the Traffic By-law, a vehicle, load, object or structure in excess of the dimensional limits set out in Section 109 of the Highway Traffic Act or the weight limits set out in Part VII of the Highway Traffic Act is permitted on a highway if a permit has been issued by the Town Engineer.
The Town of Midland requires an Oversize/Overweight Permit when the vehicle or load exceeds the normal limits as set out in the Highway Traffic Act. See Oversize-overweight manual for full details on the normal limits.
Permit holders accept responsibility for any and all damage that may be caused to overhead wires, structures, highways, encroachments or railway right of ways.
There are two types of permits that the Town of Midland issues, each with specific strict conditions attached:

- Annual Use Permit

How to Apply
Information required along with the completed application:
- Proof of General commercial and automobile liability insurance in the amount of $2,000,000.00. The Town of Midland is to be named on the insurance certificate as an additional named insured under the policy for the purposes of the permit activities.

Oversize and Overweight Permits issued by both the County of Simcoe and the Ministry of Transportation, if applicable:
- County Road 93 (Highway 93) and Simcoe Road 25 (Balm Beach Road) requires a permit from the County of Simcoe.
- Highway 12 requires a permit from the Ministry of Transportation.
If you will be driving on Country Road 93, Highway 12, Highway 93 or County Road 25 you will need a permit to provide for those. Permit numbers are required at the time of applying for your application to the Town of Midland.
