Purpose

The Media Relations Policy outlines a protocol and guidelines for how the Town of Midland (Town) communicates with and responds to the media. The Policy also establishes the Town’s media liaison staff and Town spokespersons acting in an official capacity for matters related to the Town.

Policy Statement

The Town of Midland is committed to developing positive, professional working relationships with the media to provide the public with fair, balanced reporting of municipal programs and events, services, and Council decisions.

Official spokespersons and media liaison staff will work collaboratively with the media to ensure information provided to the media is accurate, thorough, and clear, and respects the access to information and privacy rights of staff, Council and Committee members, and the public.
