Purpose By reducing GHG emissions from municipal operations and in the larger community, Midland will receive multiple co-benefits, including cost savings, cleaner air and healthier people, more resilient infrastructure as well as the reduced impact on the environment.

In September 2018, the Town joined the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Partners for Climate Protection Program, officially making a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs).

Sustainable Severn Sound and the Town of Midland continue to work together to increase awareness of the local impacts of climate change, recognize the GHG emission reduction initiatives by the municipality and the community, and identify new opportunities to further reduce GHGs and decrease the Town’s environmental footprint.
