Fire training with artificial smoke taking place Wednesday evenings this summer
The Town of Midland is advising residents that the Midland Fire Department will be conducting training exercises at the former Villa Nursing Home, 689 Yonge Street, on Wednesday evenings this summer.
Between 6pm and 10pm on Wednesday evenings from June 17 through July 29, residents may notice activity at the site:
- Presence of multiple fire trucks and emergency vehicles
- Firefighters training both inside and outside the building, including on the roof
- Artificial (simulated) smoke in and around the structure
These are planned training sessions and there will be no live fires during these exercises. A “Training in Progress” sign will be posted on Yonge Street, but this activity may be visible to surrounding areas and could cause temporary concern or distraction.
This training helps ensure our firefighters remain well-trained and prepared to protect our community. The Midland Fire Department extends a special thank you to the Jarlette Family for their support in allowing the use of the facility for training.
