Indoor public spaces available during cold warning
Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning for cold for Midland and surrounding areas, forecasting wind chill values of minus 25 to minus 30. The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has more information about staying safe and protecting yourself during the Extreme Cold.
Please be reminded that the following community facilities are open to the public:
- Midland Public Library, 320 King Street
Open Monday to Saturday, see library hours of operation - Bourgeois Community Centre, 527 Len Self Boulevard
Open Monday to Sunday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. - Midland Town Hall, 575 Dominion Avenue
Open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Residents can come in to:
- Warm up
- Charge electronics (bring your own charging cables and blocks)
- Fill personal water bottles
The County of Simcoe Social and Community Services office, located at 9226 Highway 93, Unit #109, is also open each weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for individuals to come in from the cold. Please visit simcoe.ca/WinterWarming for a list of warming centres in the region.
