Indoor public spaces available during extreme cold
In addition to continued snow squall warnings, Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning for cold for Midland and surrounding areas, forecasting wind chill values near minus 30 to minus 33. The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has issued a reminder to protect your health during extreme cold.
Please be reminded that the following community facilities are open to the public:
- Midland Public Library, 320 King Street
Open Monday to Saturday, see library hours of operation - Bourgeois Community Centre, 527 Len Self Boulevard
Open Monday to Sunday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. - Midland Town Hall, 575 Dominion Avenue
Open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The County of Simcoe Social and Community Services office, located at 9226 Highway 93, Unit #109, is also open each weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for individuals to come in from the cold. Please visit simcoe.ca/WinterWarming for a list of warming centres in the region.
