Midland proclaims Anti-Bullying Day

Mayor Bill Gordon has proclaimed February 25, 2026, as “Anti-Bullying Day” in the Town of Midland:

Whereas; Anti-Bullying Day, also known as Pink Shirt Day, is an international initiative, started in Canada, to take a stand against all forms of bullying; and

Whereas; discrimination, harassment, exclusion, intimidation and other forms of bullying have a profound effect on an individual’s feeling of safety and self-worth, and are unacceptable in a safe and caring society; and

Whereas; bullying is a learned behaviour and occurs in all age groups and social situations; not just in the schoolyard, but also in the workplace, at home, and on the internet; and

Whereas; the Town of Midland is committed to fostering a sense of belonging for all and integrating a Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Belonging (DIEB) lens into decision making, planning and delivery of services; and

Whereas; all Citizens have a role to play in preventing bullying and speaking up against bullying; and

Whereas; Anti-bullying Day provides an opportunity to promote kindness, togetherness and inclusion by lifting each other up.

Therefore, I, Bill Gordon, Mayor of the Town of Midland, do hereby proclaim February 25, 2026, as “Anti-Bullying Day” in the Town of Midland, and encourage citizens to wear pink and practice these principles today and every day.
