Midland proclaims Firefighters’ National Memorial Day 2026

Whereas, the Government of Canada has designated the second Sunday in September as Firefighters’ National Memorial Day; and 

Whereas, the Town of Midland has been served by its own fire department for more than a century; and 

Whereas, firefighters provide an essential public service, protecting the lives, property, and well-being of residents while responding to emergencies and assisting those in need; and 

Whereas, Firefighters’ National Memorial Day is an opportunity to honour the dedication, courage, and sacrifice of firefighters, including those who have lost their lives in the line of duty; and 

Whereas, these dedicated individuals deserve to be recognized for their dedication to the Town of Midland. 

Therefore, I, Bill Gordon, Mayor of the Town of Midland, do hereby proclaim September 13, 2026, as “Firefighters’ National Memorial Day” in the Town of Midland, and encourage all residents to recognize and appreciate the valuable contributions of firefighters to our community.
