Midland raises flag for Culture Days 2026

Whereas, cultural participation and activity enrich and defines the identity of Midland, serves as a
mechanism of resiliency and recovery, and improves the quality of life of its citizens; and

Whereas, arts and cultural participation make a vital contribution to the development and well-being of individuals and society; and

Whereas, Midland believes that community-based cultural celebrations enhance the connections between citizens of diverse interests, abilities, and cultures; and

Whereas, culture arises and flourishes first locally; and

Whereas, Midland has already shown its intention to implement projects that affirm both its inclusive cultural identity and the active participation of its citizens in the cultural life of the municipality; and

Whereas, as an annual national initiative, Culture Days exists as a catalyst that connects individuals and creators, eliminates barriers, and stimulates understanding, appreciation, and exploration of arts, culture, and heritage so that every individual in the country has a deeper connection with themselves, their community, and Canada; and

Whereas, Culture Days is a national initiative, and Midland has been an active and ongoing participant.

Now Therefore, I, Bill Gordon, Mayor of the Corporation of the Town of Midland do hereby proclaim September 18 to October 4, 2026, as Culture Days in the Town of Midland.
