Financial Reporting

The Town of Midland’s Financial Services division manages and invests in the municipal services our residents rely on. We provide financial stewardship to ensure long-term viability, affordability, and sustainability.

Our staff delivers accounting, procurement, property taxation, and financial planning services using professional expertise and best practices to achieve the best value for the Town.

Asset Management Plan

Municipalities require an asset management program to build, maintain and operate infrastructure cost effectively and to provide value to taxpayers for the services delivered. Infrastructure assets support economic activity and improve quality of life. Staff work diligently to balance the replacement needs of our infrastructure with available financial resources to ensure services levels enjoyed today as sustainable.

Financial Information Return

The Financial Information Return (FIR) is a standard set of year-end reports which capture financial and statistical information for each municipality in the Province and must be completed and submitted to the Ministry every year.

Financial Statements

As per Ontario's Municipal Act, the Town prepares financial statements each year, in accordance with Canadian public sector accounting standards. Council reviews and approves the Town's consolidated financial statements, which are audited annually and summarize the state of the Town's assets and financial position.
