Community celebration marks opening of Midland's first public splash pad – thanks to a $200,000 OTF Grant from the Province

On Friday, MPP Jill Dunlop joined Mayor Bill Gordon and community members at Little Lake Park to celebrate the opening of Midland's first public splash pad. The project received support in 2025 through a $200,000 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).

“Investments through provinces OTF help communities create welcoming spaces where families can connect, stay active and enjoy time together,” said Jill Dunlop, MPP for Simcoe North. “Midland’s first splash pad will be a wonderful addition to the community, providing children and families with a fun and accessible way to enjoy the outdoors. This funding will help the Town expand its recreational opportunities and create a space that residents can enjoy for many years to come. Congratulations to the Town of Midland and everyone who helped bring this exciting project to life.”

The new splash pad provides an inclusive, accessible water-play destination for children and families and enhances the recreational amenities available at Little Lake Park. The project included new pathway connections, upgraded water servicing, benches and landscaping improvements designed to enhance the visitor experience.

The splash pad was identified as a community priority through Midland's Parks and Trails Master Plan and subsequent public engagement initiatives.
