Help shape the future of culture in Midland
The Town of Midland is inviting residents and visitors to help shape the future of culture in Midland by completing a survey that will inform its forthcoming Municipal Cultural Plan.
Midland has experienced significant growth and change since its current Municipal Cultural Plan was adopted in 2014. The updated plan will provide a renewed framework and strategy to help leverage Midland’s cultural assets and resources, foster economic growth, and strengthen community identity, connection, and pride.
Developed in partnership with STEPS Public Art, the survey invites participants to share their perspectives on Midland's cultural identity, the cultural experiences and resources they value most, and how they engage with arts, culture, heritage, festivals, and community events.
"Culture is reflected in the places we gather, the stories we share, the traditions we celebrate, and the experiences that help shape our sense of belonging," said Karen Mealing, Manager of Culture and Tourism. "We want to hear from residents and visitors alike about what makes Midland special and how culture contributes to our community."
Residents and visitors can also share their ideas in person this weekend at the inaugural Georgian Bay Waterfront Festival. STEPS Public Art will host a community engagement activation beside the Town of Midland information tent in Harbourside Park on August 8 and 9, where festival attendees can learn more about the Cultural Plan and share their feedback.
