Nominations now open for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections

The Town of Midland is inviting qualified electors to help shape the communitys future, as nominations officially open today for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections, taking place on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Those interested in running for Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Town Councillor, or School Board Trustee may now file their nomination papers. The nomination period runs from May 1 to Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

“Serving on Council or as a School Board Trustee is a meaningful way to make a lasting impact in our community,” said Sherri Edgar, Director of Legislative Services/Town Clerk for the Town of Midland. “We encourage anyone considering a run in the 2026 Election to review the available resources and take the first step by filing their nomination.”

The term of office for the successful candidates will run from November 15, 2026 to November 14, 2030. Midland’s mayor-elect will also serve on Simcoe County Council.

Candidates must file their nomination in person or by an authorized agent, by appointment with the Town Clerk, and must meet the eligibility requirements set out in the Municipal Elections Act. Third party advertiser registration also opens today, and broadcasters and publishers are reminded that political advertising regulations under the Act are now in effect.
