Sweet success: Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival makes top 100 festivals list
Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival presented by Chapman’s has made the list of Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario, a prestigious designation awarded annually by Festivals and Events Ontario. This festival, the original and largest butter tart festival in Canada, has consistently made this Top 100 list since 2019.
“We are incredibly proud that Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival presented by Chapman’s has once again been recognized as one of the Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario,” said Mayor Bill Gordon. “This achievement reflects the passion of our staff, volunteers, vendors, and the tens of thousands of visitors who make this festival such a defining part of Midland’s identity.”
The 2026 Top 100 Awards were given out on Wednesday, February 25, during Festivals and Events Ontario’s “SUSTAIN” Conference Awards Gala in Kitchener, Ontario. Recipients of this award represent festivals and events that excel within the industry.
“Our festival brings people together in the best way—good food, good fun, and a shared love of a truly Canadian treat,” said Karen Mealing, Manager, Culture and Tourism. “With even more vendors joining us this year, there’s sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.”
The 2026 festival will take place on Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Midland’s downtown core and waterfront parks. More than 230 vendors will be set up alongside participating local businesses. This free festival also includes food trucks, all-day live entertainment, a free shuttle service, and a free bike valet provided by Cycle Simcoe.
