Town of Midland implements Security Patrol Pilot Program

The Town of Midland has finalized agreements for the delivery of private security services as part of a pilot program aimed at helping deter vandalism, mischief, and other unlawful activity affecting municipal property and public spaces.

Approved by Midland Town Council on June 24, 2026, the program includes overnight security patrols in Little Lake Park and a visible security presence within Midland's downtown area. The finalized agreements enable the Town to move forward with implementation of the security measures authorized by Council.

Security personnel will provide a visible presence, patrol designated areas, document incidents, and report concerns to the appropriate authorities when required. The program is intended to complement existing enforcement and emergency services and does not replace the role of police.

Like many municipalities, Midland continues to experience incidents of vandalism and damage to public infrastructure. These incidents can disrupt the use of parks and public spaces, create additional costs for taxpayers, and divert staff resources away from other priorities.

While the program represents an investment by the Town, preventing vandalism and damage to municipal infrastructure can help avoid repair and replacement costs, protect public assets, and reduce impacts on taxpayers.

Town staff will monitor the effectiveness of the pilot program and report back to Council with findings and recommendations.
