Changes to Pete Pettersen Boat Launch access effective May 1, 2026

Midland Town Council has approved updates to the user fees at the Pete Pettersen Boat Launch, making launch and trailer parking free for Midland residents with a valid permit and introducing new fee options for non‑resident users.

The changes follow a review of boat launch operations and are intended to improve access for residents while maintaining cost recovery from visitors and commercial users.

Under the approved changes, Midland residents may use the Pete Pettersen Boat Launch free of charge with a valid Resident Boat Launch Permit.

Non‑resident and commercial users will pay launch fees, with new options available:

  • Daily Permit: $40
  • 3‑Day Permit: $75
  • Weekly (7-day) Permit: $100
  • Season Permit (Non‑Resident / Commercial): $250

Permits will be available starting May 1, 2026, online at midland.ca/BoatLaunch and in person at the Municipal Office, Harbour Office, and Bourgeois Community Centre. Updated on‑site signage will be installed to inform users of the new requirements and support enforcement of the updated fee structure.

Council has also approved related updates to the Town’s Parking By‑law to clarify permitted parking at the boat launch and harbour areas.
