Town of Midland celebrates Culture Days 2026
The Town of Midland invites residents and visitors to celebrate Culture Days 2026 from September 18 to October 4 through a wide range of arts, culture, heritage, and Indigenous programming across the community. As an official Ontario Culture Days Provincial Festival Hub, Midland will feature experiences that celebrate the creativity, traditions, and cultural stories that make the region unique.
Culture Days is a nationwide celebration that encourages people to discover, experience, and participate in arts, culture, and heritage activities. Midland has become a recognized leader in the movement, recently earning a place among Canada's Top 10 Culture Days Participating Communities for the second consecutive year.
"Culture Days is an opportunity to celebrate the artists, organizations, and cultural experiences that enrich our community year-round," said Mayor Bill Gordon. "We are proud to once again showcase Midland's vibrant cultural sector and welcome residents and visitors to explore all that our community has to offer."
This year's programming is anchored by Indigenous Art & Culture Awareness Week, taking place September 21 to 27. The week celebrates Indigenous artists, knowledge, traditions, and community through a variety of workshops, exhibitions, and educational experiences.
One of the highlights of the week includes an event with the Moccasin Identifier Initiative. This free, family-friendly experience invites participants to ask questions, share, learn, and reflect on our shared responsibilities as Treaty people. Attendees will have the opportunity to stencil or colour a moccasin as part of a nationwide effort to “Cover Canada in Moccasins.”
In addition to Indigenous Art & Culture Awareness Week, visitors can enjoy visual art exhibitions, workshops, live music, cultural performances, and heritage experiences throughout Midland and the Heart of Georgian Bay.
