Town of Midland launches Toys for Tickets holiday campaign

The Toys for Tickets campaign is coming to the Town of Midland ahead of the holiday season, giving residents a unique opportunity to support local families while resolving eligible parking tickets. The pilot program will run from November 1 to December 4, 2026, with all donations benefiting the Salvation Army Midland.

The initiative allows motorists who receive eligible parking tickets during the campaign period to donate new, unwrapped toys and/or non-perishable food items equal to or greater than the value of their fine instead of paying the ticket.

“The holiday season is a time when many families in our community need a little extra support,” said Mayor Bill Gordon. “This pilot program gives residents an opportunity to support local families by resolving eligible parking tickets in a way that creates additional community benefit.”

Residents wishing to participate must bring their eligible parking ticket, donation items, and proof of purchase to the Town of Midland Municipal Office during the campaign period. Donations will be collected by Town staff and delivered to the Salvation Army following the conclusion of the campaign.

Toys for Tickets programs have been successfully adopted by other municipalities in Simcoe County and beyond. Midland’s pilot program allows staff to gather data to determine success and report back to Council at a future date to provide further recommendations.
