Development charges are fees collected at the time of a building permit to help pay for the cost of infrastructure required to provide municipal services to new development, such as roads, transit, water and sewer infrastructure, community centres and fire and police services.

County of Simcoe Development Charges

The Town is required to collect development charges on behalf of two local school boards. The school boards are responsible for setting the EDC rates.
