Are you a dog owner?
  • Dog licenses (tags) are an annual fee and registration is required before March 1st every year, unless the dog came into your care after that date.
  • Any dog older than 3 months (12 weeks) must be licensed.  
  • There is a maximum of 2 dogs per household.
  • Proof of valid rabies vaccination is required with the purchase of your dog tag. 
  • Please see the Town's Licensing and Control of Dogs by-law for more information.

Renew or apply for your dog tag online

Purchase your Dog Tag

Online

Apply to renew a lifetime dog tag or apply for a new dog tag now. 

  • Credit card payment only.

  • Complete the online form (available in 2025) and upload a valid rabies vaccination certificate from your pet's veterinarian.

  • Licenses will be processed within 2 business days of receipt of application.

  • New dog tags can be mailed to the address specified on the application or, you can pick up your dog tag at the Town Hall at 575 Dominion Avenue.

In Person at the Municipal Office

  • Renew or purchase your dog tag at the Municipal Office.

  • You must bring a hard copy of your pet's rabies vaccination certificate at the time of purchase.

  • The Dog Tag Application can be completed conveniently ahead of time or at the office when you arrive.

 By E-Mail

  • Email your completed Dog Tag Application with an electronic copy of your pet's rabies certificate here.

  • Customer Service staff will contact you by phone within 2 business days for credit card information. Please do not include credit card information in the email.

  • Once the license is processed the tag will be mailed to you, or, you can pick it up at the municipal office.

What is the cost of a Dog Tag?

  • Multi-year dog tags are now phased out (as of 2024). Tags previously purchased before 2024 will be honoured during those years. 

  • A 'lifetime' tag will be issued. Registration is required annually after the first lifetime tag is issued, which can be done conveniently online or in person at the Municipal Office.

Guide Dogs and Service Dogs

Guide and Service Dogs must be licensed however fees are waived (maximum of 2 dogs total per household). 

  • Written proof that your dog is recognized as a service dog by a licensed practitioner is required.

  • If you are licensing a service dog please register in person at the municipal office at 575 Dominion Avenue or by e-mail to avoid payment by using the fillable Dog Tag Application form. 

  • If attending in person, the Dog Tag Application can be completed conveniently ahead of time or at the office when you arrive. 

  • A hard copy of your pet's valid rabies vaccination certificate and proof of service dog designation is required.
