Heritage Awards

Each February, the Town of Midland proudly takes part in the Ontario Heritage Trust’s province-wide celebration of our past, known as Heritage Week.

The Town of Midland uses this week as an opportunity to promote awareness of local heritage resources and heritage-related issues within the community. During this time, the Town also presents the Heritage Merit Awards and Heritage Appreciation Awards to recognize outstanding contributions to preserving and celebrating Midland’s rich history.

Nominations Open!

We're seeking nominations for the 2026 Heritage Awards. There are two award types:

  • Since 1994, the Heritage Merit Award recognizes the buildings and properties that contribute to conserving and maintaining the Town’s built heritage.
  • Nominate property owners that have made a valuable contribution by conserving and celebrating the Town’s built heritage by restoring and maintaining building or structures in keeping with its original architectural design.

  • Since 2009 the Heritage Appreciation Award recognizes individuals or organizations that have played a significant role in the promotion or conservation of heritage in the Town of Midland.
  • Nominate a person or an organization for their dedication to supporting the safe keeping and education of the Town's rich heritage to the greater community.
