Water Shut-Off Requests

The Water Shut-Off Request Service allows property owners to temporarily stop water flow to their property for private plumbing repairs or maintenance.

Please contact Customer Service at 705-526-4275 to schedule a Water Operator visit for a temporary water shut off. A fee applies for turning the water off and back on.

New Water Connection

Whether you're building, moving in, or upgrading, a new water and sewer connection may be required. The process includes specific steps, permits, and approvals to ensure proper installation and compliance with Town standards.

1. Getting a Permit

Any new water connection or service to the Town of Midland’s infrastructure requires a permit. Property owners must apply for an Additional Connection Permit (ACP) to connect to municipal water, storm, or sanitary lateral services. Know more about the Additional Connection Permit (ACP) Procedures

2. Billing Information

Water and sewer charges are based on metered water usage for each property.

  • Water charges include:
    • A Consumption Charge based on usage
    • A Base Monthly Charge
  • Sewer charges are calculated based on the amount of water used and include:
    • A Sewer Discharge Rate
    • A Base Monthly Charge

During the work, representatives from the Town of Midland's Water and Wastewater Department, Engineering Department, and the design engineer will be present to oversee the process.

Before you perform any maintenance or excavation work on your property, it is important to call Ontario One Call to perform locates to mark the areas where underground wiring and water lines exist.

Please call 1-800 400-2255 prior to performing the work.

If you experience dirty water, run the cold water tap in a bathtub or sink for 5 to 10 minutes. If the issue continues, please contact Customer Service at 705-526-4275 to speak with a Water Operator.

The main water shut off valve in the home is private plumbing and the responsibility of the owner.

The curb stop to your home will need to be shut off for you or your plumber to perform repairs or replacement on the valve.

Please contact Customer Service at 705-526-4275 to arrange a time to have a Water Operator come to your property and temporarily shut off your water.

If the curb stop located at your property line is raised or damaged please contact please contact Customer Service at 705-526-4275 to arrange for a water operator to come and assess the curb stop and perform the necessary work.
