Temporary Delays and Detours

Where: Midland Point Road

When: August 8, 2023 until Mid-October 2023.

Detour: Road will be open to traffic for a majority of the project. The road will be closed for culvert construction starting Monday, August 21, 2023 for approximately two weeks. 

  • Residents on the west side of the road crossing culvert will have access to their homes at all times via Midland Point Road.
  • Residents on the east side of the road crossing culvert will utilize the attached detour route during the road closure (for two weeks starting on August 21, 2023).

Frequently Asked Questions 

What type of construction is happening? 

Replace and widen substantially the road crossing culvert located approximately 150 metres West of Portage Park Lane.

Why is the construction taking place?

This is to allow for proper grading down to the creek. 

When will the work start?

Tentative start date is August 8, 2023 (after holiday weekend).

Will there be a road closure?

During the culvert replacement the road will be closed approximately 2 weeks. Closure start date is August 21, 2023. 

Who will be affected by road closure?

All residents east of the road crossing culvert will need to take the planned detour route during the closure period. 

What will the construction include?
  • The road will be widened to accommodate bike lanes on both side of the road.
  • Guide Rail will be installed at the road crossing culvert.
  • The granular road base will be removed and replaced to a depth of 150mm.
  • Ditches will be cleaned out and regraded to allow for rainfall to flow properly. Ditches will be graded at no more than a 3:1 slope to ensure ditches can be maintained by residents.
What if my lawn or driveway is disturbed? 

All disturbed lawn areas will be restored will topsoil and sod. Driveway culverts will be replaced including the restorations of driveways. Materials will be matched to the best of our ability based on what is currently available and adhering to standard practices and regulations.
