Media Release

Don’t miss the boats, Tall Ships are returning to Midland!

For Immediate Release

(July 30, 2025, Midland, ON) The tall ships are sailing back into Midland this August, get your tickets and climb aboard! Tall Ships Midland is August 15 to 17, 2025 taking place at Midland’s Harbour on the scenic shores of Georgian Bay. This extraordinary waterfront festival only docks every three years, so mark your calendars and make some unforgettable waves!

Tall Ships Midland, sponsored by Desjardins Ontario Credit Union, promises a weekend filled with amazing vessels, unique experiences, live performances, and non‑stop family fun. Purchase tickets in advance at www.tallshipsmidland.ca or at the Harbour on Festival weekend.

“We are proud to welcome these magnificent ships to Midland’s Harbour,” said Mayor Bill Gordon. “This incredible festival is not only a rare chance to see the tall ships up close, but also a vibrant celebration of our waterfront, our history and our community.”

Kick off the weekend at Midland Harbour on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and watch a stunning Parade of Sail as all four tall ships—the Empire Sandy, St. Lawrence II, Ernestina-Morrissey, and Circe—make their entrance into Midland.

On Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the tall ships will be docked at Midland Harbour. Experience the magic firsthand by stepping aboard these amazing ships with ticket purchase. Learn about life aboard a tall ship, the history of the vessels and speak to the crew members that sail the waters of the Great Lakes and beyond.

Enhance your experience for the scenic sunset sail-outs aboard the Empire Sandy on Saturday or Sunday evening, offering a one-of-a-kind experience of sailing Georgian Bay aboard a tall ship. See all pricing on www.tallshipsmidland.ca.

Back on land, check out live music, vendors, a midway with carnival rides and games, or visit the delicious Northern Heat Rib Series and Beer Fest, all within a few steps of charming downtown Midland where businesses will be participating in the “Ships & Sales” promotion, featuring special offers and discounts for weekend visitors. Look for the “Ships & Sales” sign in storefront windows to spot participating businesses.

Tall Ships Midland is supported in part by grant funding. This event has been financially assisted by the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, a program of the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, administered by the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund Corporation.
