Midland celebrates creativity with the Midland Mural Festival
For Immediate Release
(September 25, 2025 – Midland, ON) The Town of Midland is inviting the community to help paint new murals at the Midland Mural Festival on this Saturday, September 27.
Celebrate Midland’s famous murals at this free, family-friendly festival in Harbourside Park! Everyone is encouraged to pick up a paint brush and join the artists to help bring Midland’s newest murals to life. One of the exciting new murals will be led by a local Indigenous artist who will also be incorporating some storytelling with the mural painting.
“What better way for families to spend a Saturday in September than helping to create new murals to be installed in town?” asked Mayor Bill Gordon. “Midland is a mural community and we are celebrating this with the festival and the work we are undertaking to restore murals located in the Downtown.”
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and in addition to new mural creations, there will be free make-and-take activities offered by the Midland Public Library, Huronia Museum, Parks Canada, and the Métis Nation of Ontario. The festival also includes live music, face painting, artists, artisans and food vendors.
Visitors and residents can tour more than 50 artworks along the waterfront and downtown either with a self-guided tour or by signing up for one of three guided mural tours taking place at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Through a capital allocation and grant funding, the Town restored eight murals in 2024 and with eight more restored in 2025, all of which are included in the public art and mural guidebook.
The Midland Mural Festival is part of Culture Days, a national celebration of arts, culture and heritage.
