Today the Salvation Army flag was raised to recognize the Salvation Army 2025 Kettle Kickoff. Mayor Bill Gordon has proclaimed November 13 to December 24, 2025, as “The Salvation Army 2025 Kettle Kickoff” in Midland:
Whereas; The Salvation Army is the largest non-governmental service provider in Canada and has been serving men, women, and children across our great nation for approximately 143 years; and
Whereas, food insecurity is a common thread that runs through The Salvation Army’s work with vulnerable people, and when hunger and fear become a way of like, each day can feel like an uphill climb; and
Whereas, Last year, the front lines of The Salvation Army community services saw the number of seniors seeking support increase by six percent. When poverty gives someone an impossible choice, The Salvation Army's approach helps combine immediate relief with community-driven efforts to break the cycle of poverty and bring stability; and
Whereas, The Salvation Army’s community fundraising goal of $150,000 for the 2025 Kettle Campaign will allow them to provide practical assistance for all who need it, not only at Christmas but throughout the year. This includes Christmas Hampers and Toys, Meals, Food Bank, School Lunch Programs, Summer Camps and Youth Programming. Every donation to any of the kettle locations across Midland remains in the community to support local needs. Kettle units across Midland also offer a safe and simple tap-and-go payment option to donate.
Therefore, I, Bill Gordon, Mayor of the Town of Midland, hereby proclaims November 13 to December 24, 2025, as “The Salvation Army 2025 Kettle Kickoff” in Midland, to support The Salvation Army's efforts to give hope to people in need in our community.
