For Immediate Release
(July 28, 2025, Midland, ON) The Ontario government has strengthened Midland’s emergency readiness with a $50,000 investment through the 2024–25 Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG). This integral funding supported the purchase of new technology and emergency preparedness training, which will enhance local response capabilities, as well as critical signage including a portable digital sign to communicate news, alerts and instructions during emergency situations.
Today, Honourable Jill Dunlop, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, visited the Town of Midland’s Emergency Operation Centre to view the new equipment and technology advancements purchased through the CEPG.
“To protect Ontario, communities and organizations need the resources to respond efficiently and effectively in times of crisis and our government is proud to support the Town of Midland in this mission,” said Jill Dunlop, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response. “I saw first-hand during the ice storm how our community and the entire province is stronger when we have the capacity to come together to support each other and respond quickly when disaster strikes.”
The Town of Midland consistently meets compliance through the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA) and is committed to building a prepared and resilient community. By investing in emergency response technology, conducting training workshops, and enhancing coordination among departments, the Town continues to prioritize public safety and readiness.
“We appreciate the province’s significant investment in enhancing Midland’s emergency response capabilities and resources,” said Mayor Bill Gordon. “Support through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant enables us to strengthen our readiness and support our residents in an effective way.”
