The Town of Midland is pleased to share highlights from its participation in the 2025 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference, held August 17–20 in Ottawa. This year’s conference brought together municipal leaders from across Ontario to discuss housing, infrastructure, and community resilience in the face of economic uncertainty.
The Town’s delegation, including Mayor Gordon, Deputy Mayor Prost, members of Council, CAO Rhonda Bunn, and senior staff, engaged in ministerial meetings and conference sessions focused on housing, recreation, and the use of digital technologies to enhance service delivery. These discussions align with Midland’s strategic priorities and its ongoing work to modernize municipal services and foster inclusive community growth.
The Province also announced a $1.6 billion boost to the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, reinforcing their commitment to supporting municipalities in building homes and driving economic development. In 2024, the Town of Midland secured more than $30 million in transformative grant funding through the Province’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF) stream of the Program. This grant will enable major upgrades to water and wastewater systems that will support the servicing of over 3,000 new homes and unlock growth along the County Road 93 corridor.
At this year’s conference, Midland was recognized as a recipient of the All Risk Municipal Grant (ARMG), awarded by LAS – Local Authority Services, for its commitment to proactive risk management and infrastructure innovation. This funding will support Midland’s efforts to strengthen public assets and improve service delivery for residents.
Thank you to Association of Municipalities of Ontario and Local Authority Services for their support and look forward to leveraging this grant to deliver meaningful results for our community.
