Call for Artists

The Town of Midland commissions public art to enrich public spaces, celebrate local culture, and foster community pride.

Submissions will be evaluated based on the Town’s Public Art Policy, including:

  • Suitability for public display
  • Responds to or complements the installation location
  • Reflection of Midland’s history, culture, or natural environment
  • Ability to build appreciation for public art
  • Originality and creativity
  • Artistic merit and experience of the artist or team

Proposals must be inclusive and diverse, and must respect the rights of Indigenous people to own and control their cultural heritage including designs, stories, and other traditional expressions.

Artists are also encouraged to carefully review the specific submission requirements and deadlines for each project to ensure eligibility and alignment.

2024-2025 Mural Restoration Project

The Town of Midland, with support from the Rural Economic Development program, has restored sixteen of the murals within the downtown area. Eight murals were restored in 2024, and an additional eight murals in 2025. Some examples of the restoration work are below.
