Situated at the southern end of Georgian Bay, Midland Harbour is a picturesque natural attraction that boaters, tourists and residents have enjoyed for many years. Located at the base of King Street, the marina is within walking distance of lively downtown Midland's shops, restaurants, art galleries and public art, and is an excellent base for exploring the area's parks, trails and historical sights.
The Midland Harbour Marina is a member of the Ontario Marine Operators Association (OMOA) and is Clean Marine Certified with a Diamond Eco-Rating.
Boat Slips & Docking
We offer seasonal and transient slips, and our Shopper Docks welcome boaters who would like to spend time in Midland shopping or enjoying a meal at a local restaurant.
Seasonal & Transient Slips
The Habour Marina offers the following slip types:
- Non-powered slips (up to 25')
- 30-amp powered slips* (up to 32')
- 50-amp powered slips* (up to 32')
Water service is available at some slip types.
*Electrical pedestals have GFCI circuit breakers. Your vessel must be GFCI compliant to plug in.
To purchase your slip, please email harbour@midland.ca with your boat's length and beam, and let us know which slip type you need and whether you need water service.
Shopper Docks
The Town of Midland welcomes boaters who would like to spend time in Midland shopping or enjoying a meal at a local restaurant. Shopper Docks are available on a first-come, first-served basis from mid-April to mid-October, seven days a week from 8am–3pm. Please note:
- Boaters must check in with the Harbour Master/Harbour staff when they arrive to ensure their boat is berthed in an available location. Should a boater not check in with staff, their boat may be chained and fees applied.
- The first two hours of Shopper Docks use are complimentary. Any boats wishing to stay longer than two hours will be charged $5/hr. This fee must be pre-paid.
- Any boats that are not moved within their allocated time frame or remain after 3pm will be charged the equivalent of transient fees with no option to stay overnight.
- A request to use a Shopper Dock after 3pm may be granted at the discretion of the Harbour Master.
Dockage Areas
The marina dockage can hold pleasure crafts up to 70’ long and can accommodate vessels up to 350' in length on our North Sea Wall.

- 70' of transient dockage along the end of the Rotary Pier with 30-amp hydro and water service.

Marina Amenities
Washrooms are located at the Harbour Office and are open to the public during operating hours, seven days a week, in season. Showers are accessible to boaters 24/7 during the operating season.
Coin-operated laundry is available to transient and seasonal boaters 24 hours a day at the Harbour Office. Please wash full loads only and use eco-friendly products.
Garbage and recycling bins are available in designated areas. There must be no spillage of garbage, sewage, fuels, oils or other pollutants on harbour property or waterways. Contact the Harbour Office for any disposal inquiries.
An overnight security guard patrols every night from the Victoria Day long weekend to Thanksgiving. Video surveillance cameras cover the harbour area to ensure the safety and security of all boaters, visitors, guests and staff.

This project will include refurbishing the life of the finger docks at the Harbour that are used by seasonal and transient boaters. This will be for 152' of main dock and 108' of finger docks. After these docks are refurbished, all docks at the marina should be in good shape for approximately the next 5 years.
Harbour Office Doors Replacement
This project includes the replacement of the two commercial steel grade doors at the Harbour office, door frames, as well as integration with the Town’s access control system, including the required hardware, wiring and configuration for improved security and centralized management.
The doors require replacing because they are out of alignment and subsequently not opening and closing very well; in addition, a Transport Canada inspection resulted in a recommendation that the doors to the Harbour office should be locked at all times, unless staff are working inside the building. With the integration to the Access Control System, staff will be able to quickly lock/unlock the doors with a fob.
Additional 50-amp Electrical Pedestals
Two additional 50-amp electrical pedestals will be installed at the harbour in 2026. The installation of two additional 50-amp pedestals will increase the capacity at the harbour to attract and accommodate boaters who require 50-amp service. Additionally, two new pedestals will allow for better and safer access to the 50 amp service along the North pier.
Overnight Security (May long weekend to Thanksgiving)
As part of Budget 2025, an overnight security guard to patrol the Midland Harbour marina was approved as a one-time cost. The security guard was in place from the May long weekend to Thanksgiving, from 11pm, when quiet hours at the marina begin, until 6am. The presence of a security guard proved to be an effective deterrent, and this was approved as an annual budgetary expense related to harbour operations starting with the 2026 budget.
Marina Rules & Regulations
All boaters and their guests must follow the Midland Harbour rules and regulations and the Municipal Dock By-law while at the marina. For the 2026 season, all boats must be removed from the water no later than October 25, 2026.
Boating Information
Midland’s Pete Pettersen Boat Launch offers easy public access to southern Georgian Bay, serving as a convenient and scenic starting point for boating, fishing, and exploring the nearby Thirty Thousand Islands.
A Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) proves you have the knowledge to safely operate a motorized boat on Canada's waterways. It's required by Transport Canada and is the most common proof of competency in Canada.
Who needs a card
- Anyone operating a boat or watercraft with a motor of any size or type, including trolling and electric motors
- No exemptions for age, boat size or engine horsepower
- Boaters caught without a card face a minimum $250 fine

Pass a Transport Canada-accredited boating safety test, such as the BOATsmart! exam.
Midland Harbour Marina is a proud member of Boating Ontario's Clean Marine Program, with a Diamond Eco-Rating. Since 2022, the marina has followed environmental best practices covering fuelling, waste oil, recycling, energy and water conservation.
Annual Top Hat Ceremony
The Top Hat Ceremony is a tradition of more than 100 years, started by James Playfair. Each year, the captain of the first commercial vessel into Midland Harbour is "crowned" with Mr. Playfair's own vintage silk top hat from his personal collection.
On April 29, 2026, Captain Silvio Coutinho of the MV Whitefish Bay was recognized by Mayor Bill Gordon as the first commercial vessel to arrive for the 2026 season.
