Host an Event

The Town of Midland is a great place to host a wide range of outdoor events, including festivals, walks/runs, parades, competitions, concerts, and water events.

Application Process

To host your event on municipal property in Midland, you must review the special events planning guide, read the special events policy, and complete the special events application form.

The Event Organizer is responsible for submitting the Special Events Application and ensuring all other applicable requirements are met. Should you require an emergency plan template, please see below.

Timelines

Special events application process follows these deadlines:

1. Major Events
  • A minimum of six (6) months prior to any Major Event.

A Major Event is defined as a Special Event that meets one or more of the following criteria: an anticipated attendance of 1,000 or more people, inclusion of a licensed area, a road closure exceeding one block within the Downtown core, or the closure of the road through Little Lake Park.

2. Minor Events
  • A minimum of three (3) months prior to a Minor Event.

A Minor Event is defined as a Special Event with an anticipated attendance of fewer than 1,000 people, no licensed area, and no road closures.

Funding

Your event may be eligible for full or partial funding. We have a community grant that funds local not-for-profit groups and registered charities.

Applications for Community Grants typically open in the spring for projects the following year.

Promote Your Event

Once your event has been approved by staff and the logistics have been coordinated, we welcome you to post your approved event to our Community Calendar

We look forward to working with you to ensure a successful Special Event in the Town of Midland for the enjoyment of our residents and visitors!
