Mid-Pen Transit Rider Guidelines
Mid-Pen Transit is committed to upholding all aspects of the Ontario Human Rights Code and ensuring that every person receives equal treatment when accessing our services.
General Conduct
- No smoking, vaping, eating, or drinking.
- No swearing or discriminatory language.
- Passengers are responsible for personal belongings.
Exact Fare System
Midland Transit operates on an exact fare system. This means that when paying with cash, passengers must provide the exact amount, as drivers do not give change.
Lost & found
Mid-Pen Transit is not responsible for lost items. If you believe you have left an item on a bus, please email service@midland.ca or call 705-526-4275 x2255.
Transfers
The transfer point between Midland and Penetanguishene is at Huronia Mall. Riders can request a transfer slip when paying their fare onboard. Transfers are valid for 30 minutes. Transfers also receive a discounted fare on the LINX Transit, which is operated by Simcoe County.
Flag-Down Service
Passengers can flag down the bus at any safe point along its route and do not need to be at a designated stop to board or exit.
Boarding & Seating
- Flag-down service allowed where safe.
- Strollers/bundle buggies must be managed by passengers and aisles kept clear.
- Priority seats reserved for seniors and people with disabilities.
- Shoes and shirts required at all times.
- When standing, move to the back of the bus.
Bicycle Transportation Guidelines
- Bike racks are available on the front of select buses.
- Space is limited and provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Passengers must load, secure, and unload their own bicycles.
- Large bikes and scooter-style bicycles are not permitted on racks.
- Remove all detachable items before placing your bike on the rack.
Pets & Items
- Only service animals or pets in small carriers allowed.
- Non-uniform service animals require documentation.
- No skis, toboggans, snowboards, wagons, or inline skates.
- Exit through rear doors when safe.
- Transport of bulk items is at the operator’s discretion.
- Aisles must remain clear of all belongings.
Bus Shelters
- Keep shelters clean and undamaged.
- No loitering or disruptive behavior.
Prohibited Items
- Firearms
- Offensive or prohibited weapons
- Chemicals, toxic substances, and flammables
