Yonge Street Reconstruction

Project Status: Substantially Completed

All temporary works (curb ramping and asphalt sidewalks) are completed and Yonge Street is fully open. The electrical contractor will be at Eighth and Yonge working over the next two weeks to expedite getting the light installed and turned on. Mid-Pen Transit’s Midland Route remains on detour until the traffic lighting is completed.

In the spring, the contractor will be back removing the temporary works and fixing any deficiencies before paving the surface asphalt on the road and pouring concrete sidewalks. Subscribe to news & notices to stay tuned!

Yonge Street underwent reconstruction and resurfacing from Second Street to Norene Street, King Street to Second Street and Norene Street to County Road 93. The project started in May 2025 and is anticipated to be complete Spring 2026.

This project includes: 

  • New sanitary sewer replacement and associated services.
  • New watermain replacement and associated services. 
  • New barrier curb and gutter, restoration of all disturbed areas including driveways, topsoil, sod and surface elements.
  • New asphalt from King Street to County Road 93.
  • New cycling lanes.
