Potholes & Repairs

Road defects come up from a combination of pavement use, aging roads, poor drainage and will typically increase in the spring following the thaw and freeze cycle. The Town completes pothole patching, asphalt grinding, asphalt replacement and crack sealing to comply with Ontario Minimum Maintenance Standards (MMS).

Damages due to potholes are a common occurrence, remember to stay alert, and slow down to avoid damage and serious stress.

County Road 93 and Highway 12 are maintained by the County of Simcoe.

Potholes Repairing

Patches of potholes are an emergency repair. This is a temporary solution, providing immediate relief while we plan for a more permanent solution.

Timeline for Repairs

Potholes and road repairs follow a priority sequence based on size, depth and road classification, which is outlined in the MMS.

  • Potholes - standards range from 4 to 30 days depending on the classification of the road.
  • Road cracks - standards range from 30 to 180 days depending on the classification of the road.
