Accessible Transit
Mid-Pen Transit offers dependable and accessible transportation for the community. Our full-sized buses operate on regular routes and are equipped to accommodate wheelchairs and medical scooters, ensuring safe and convenient travel for all riders.
One support person can travel free on Mid-Pen Transit and must be able to assist with boarding and exiting, as well as manage the client’s medical, behavioral, and personal needs.
All Mid-Pen Transit buses are equipped with:
- Loading ramp
- Kneeling feature to lower the step
- Next stop announcement system
- Slip-resistant floors
- Interior lighting
- Grab rails
- Two designated wheelchair positions
When is a support person required?
- If the passenger is prone to seizures or other medical conditions that require support
- If the passenger needs physical assistance with mobility
- If the passenger cannot travel alone
- If the passenger poses a flight risk when left alone on the transit system
- If the passenger displays unsafe or unacceptable behaviour that threatens safety
Community Reach - Midland accessible transit
The Town of Midland provides Accessible Transit (AT), a service operated by Community Reach for residents who are unable to use public transit due to a physical, cognitive, visual, or sensory disability.
Community Reach also offers door-to-door service in Midland and Penetanguishene for medical, shopping, and essential trips through the Transportation Linking Communities Program.
To access this program, you must submit an Online Registration Form and a Medical Assessment Form completed by a healthcare professional. Both forms are available on the Community Reach Accessible Transit page.
