Frequently Asked Questions

If you load your card at a Mid-Pen Transit location, it updates immediately. However, if you load online, it can take up to 24 hours for the update to appear because the system needs time to communicate with the devices on the buses, which only update when they return to the transit facility.

To avoid any issues, load your pass or stored value a few days before you need to use it. For immediate updates, visit a Mid-Pen Transit location.

Stored value allows riders to load an amount on their Smart Card and then the balance declines as it is used to ride. Stored value fares will reflect that of ticket prices - Fares are in accordance to the Town of Midland's Composite Fee Schedule.

If you tap your Smart Card and:

  • No valid transfer is present, and
  • Your stored value is less than the fare for a single ride,

The Smart Card will still allow one ride by going into a negative balance. This negative amount will be deducted the next time you add stored value to your card.
