Yonge Street Reconstruction

The Town of Midland is rebuilding a portion of Yonge Street from Norene Street to Second Street as well as improvements from County Road 93 to King Street.

 October 11, 2023 - Public Information Centre
Interested members of the public attend an Open House style engagement session.
November 2023 - Staff Analysis
Town staff and consultant review findings from PIC. 
 December 6, 2023 - Report to Council
Town Council receives report from staff and PIC review. 
 Winter 2023/2024 - Design Consultation
Town staff will work with consultant through design submissions.

What area will be affected?
The project location is on Yonge St between Norene St to Second St. 
Yonge Street
Why is this happening? 
  • Improve the deteriorating underground infrastructure.
  • improve traffic lights at Eighth Street and Fourth Street; and
  • improve overall condition of the street through the project location.
  • Upgrade the current bike lanes to comply with Ontario regulations.
When will construction take place?
The above project timeline outline the present process for the Yonge Street Reconstruction. When more information becomes available the timeline will be updated and residents will be notified. 
Will there be upgrades to bike lanes?
One of the projects included in The Town’s Multi Modal Transportation Master Plan is upgrading the current bike lanes along Yonge Street to comply with the Ontario Traffic Manual Book 18- Cycling Facilities. 
What was the Public Information Centre for?
The Town hosted a Public Information Centre for interested members of the community to engage with Town staff and learn of various options for improving the active transportation facilities throughout the Yonge Street corridor.
