Eighth Street Reconstruction Project

Eighth Street between Yonge Street and Hugel Avenue will undergo a full reconstruction in the summer of 2026. The project includes:

  • Replacement of existing sanitary sewer and watermain, including services to property line
  • Drainage improvements and storm sewer upgrades
  • Full road reconstruction, including new curb, sidewalks, granulars and asphalt as required
  • Reinstatement of all disturbed areas to previous or better condition, including sections of driveways or boulevard affected by construction
  • Install new active transportation facilities

Full reconstruction work is done to replace aging infrastructure and allow the Town to maintain the level of service necessary for drinking water, sewage and stormwater management, as well as roadway conditions.

The construction project is currently being advertised to interested bidders. Work is expected to be awarded to the successful contractor and work initiated by June 1, 2026, with an anticipated completed date by October 31, 2026, subject to change. A notice of upcoming construction is being hand-delivered to nearby properties.

Spring – Winter 2025: Design

Detailed design of the new infrastructure and roadway, including site investigations (topographic survey, subsurface utility exploration and mapping, and a geotechnical investigation of the existing soils). See Notice of Design Phase Commencement that was hand-delivered to nearby properties.
