Posted October 14, 2026: The full road closure of Hugel/Eighth intersection has been extended until further notice, and could be in effect until Friday, October 16. The road remains open to local traffic only, however no through-traffic will be permitted. Detour signage will remain in place.
Posted October 9, 2026: The Town of Midland and CM Drain will be conducting watermain work on Eighth Street that will cause a full road closure to the intersection at Hugel Avenue and Eighth Street from October 13 at 7am to October 14 at 6pm. The road will remain open to local traffic only, however no through-traffic will be permitted. Detour signage will be in place.
Posted July 28, 2026: The Town of Midland and CM Drain will be conducting watermain work on Eighth Street that will cause a temporary disruption to water service on July 31 from 9am–4:30pm. Temporary Water Shutoff Notices have been issued to impacted properties. If inclement weather is experienced, this work will be completed on August 4 from 9am–4:30pm.
Posted July 27, 2026: Construction on Eighth Street has begun. Eighth Street is fully closed (local traffic only) from Yonge to Hugel for the duration of the project. The notices of construction previously hand-delivered to nearby properties contain full information on property impacts, site safety, utility interruptions, curbside collection, and property access.

The contractor will be completing a precondition survey to record existing conditions of the adjacent buildings prior to construction. Posted June 18, 2026: Construction activity is scheduled to begin in mid-August and be completed by the end of October. Nearby properties have received two notices so far, and will be receiving a construction notice a few weeks prior to work starting.

Work is expected to be awarded to the successful contractor and work initiated by June 1, 2026, with an anticipated completed date by October 31, 2026, subject to change. A notice of upcoming construction is being hand-delivered to nearby properties.
