- Dogs must be wearing up-to-date licence tags.
- Female dogs in heat, dogs with illness and dogs less than 4 months old are not allowed in the park.
- Aggressive dogs need to be out of the park. Please leash and remove any dog that becomes aggressive in the park.
- Use the area that matches your dog’s size: small dog area for dogs under 30 lbs (13.6 kg), large dog area for dogs over 30 lbs (13.6 kg).
Off-Leash Dog Area
Little Lake Park
The off-leash dog area at Little Lake Park is a fenced space where dogs can run and play off leash. It is open to all dogs with a current dog licence. The off-leash dog area is maintained from May 1 to October 31.
The interior of the off-leash dog area is not maintained in the winter. However, in response to feedback from the community, the Town piloted an increase in winter maintenance service by adding snow clearing activities on the road that leads to the Little Lake Park off-leash dog area. This service increase pilot came into effect in January 2026 and will continue in the 2026/27 season.
Small Dog Area Expansion
Work was completed in late October 2026 to create a separate area for small dogs, attached to the existing off-leash dog area near the parking lot. The new area adds more than 9,000 square feet of space for small dogs to run, play, and explore, and is accessible for people with mobility devices.
The project was approved as part of the 2026 Capital Budget.
Size Rules
The off-leash dog area now has two separate sections based on dog size:
- Small Dog Area: for dogs under 30 lbs (13.6kg)
- Large Dog Area: for dogs over 30 lbs (13.6 kg)
Please use the area that matches your dog’s size. Keeping small and large dogs separate helps all dogs play safely.
Rules & Regulations
- Dogs must be on a leash outside the fenced area.
- Always carry a leash while in the off-leash dog area.
- Pinch (prong) and spike collars are not allowed.
- An adult human must be present with their dog at all times. Owners and guardians are responsible for their dogs.
- Infants and toddlers are not allowed.
- Children ages 6 to 16 must be with an adult. Children should not run, scream or approach a dog without the guardian's permission.
- Pick up and dispose of your dog's waste.
- Dogs may not chase people or wildlife, or dig up fencing, bushes or trees. Fill in any holes your dog digs right away.
- Do not bring food, drinks or glass containers inside the dog area.
- Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property.
