Host an Event
The Town of Midland is a great place to host a wide range of outdoor events. This includes events such as festivals, block parties, walks/runs, parades, competitions, concerts, fireworks, water events and family events.
Completing the Special Events Planning Guide and Application is the first step to hosting your event in Midland. The Event Organizer must complete the Special Events Planning Guide and Application a minimum of ninety (90) days prior to the event.
Your event may be eligible for full or partial funding. We have a community grant that funds local not-for-profit groups and registered charities. Applications for Community Grants typically open in the fall for projects the following year.
Insurance is mandatory for all special events. You will need to provide proof of insurance, or your event cannot take place.
The amount of insurance is either $2 million or $5 million depending on the risks associated with the event.
Accessibility should be at the top of your list when planning an event. Things you should consider to make your event more accessible include:
- Accessible parking spaces
- Public transportation
- Paths of travel
- Entertainment stage
- Accessible seating
- Accessible washroomsRest areas
- Support persons
- Service animals
- Proper training for staff and volunteers
